About Joannart

Originally from Poland I have lived in London for nearly a decade. Whilst in Poland I studied and completed a BA in Fine Arts7 Artistic Education (Early Education) and an MA in Fine Arts Artistic Education (Art Therapy); a path I chose fuelled by my childhood fascination around art and all kinds of media that represent creativity.
Since 2021, I have been a member of the group “Polish Women Artists from South London”. In March, 2021 they held a joint exhibition of nine female creatives celebrating their shared roots of Polish heritage and who also call South London their home.
My favourite subject matter is urban landscape, but I also really enjoy painting nature; mostly birds and flowers. 
"My London” paintings represent my love of the city I live in. I enjoy walking through the streets and looking at buildings; their edges, shapes and the changing skyline and the reflections of light.Most of "My London" paintings reflect the atmosphere of places which are familiar for me. I take photos as a reference to create them - this is always the starting point for me after capturing my initial inspiration. I always think about how to convey the atmosphere in my paintings,whilst they is based on real objects, but the character of my paintings are most important for me.
I have been a member of the London Plein Air Group since March 2023. It is a painting group open to everyone, which meets on the first Saturday of the month at a previously agreed place for a painting session.
As well as painting, I like to create jewellery from recycled or upcycled materials. I have been creating custom dog brooches recently, and am interested in expanding into painting more pet portraits.
